THE 2012 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE - Those who didn’t renew 12/31/11 won’t receive the $1,000.00/$ 5,000.00 if traveling to a Legion meeting accidental death benefit or the monthly magazine. Your renewal will reinstate both benefits.  Post 199 has 38 Paid-up-for-Life, 231 regular renewals and 40 who have not renewed for 2012.  We are at 103%.  Please send your renewals asap.

SUPER BOWL PARTY – Feb 5th  Come and enjoy the game with your friends. Hot dogs only 25 cents; chili only 50 cents; drink specials and good company. Plus the TRAILER raffle drawing (or $100) at half-time! You can't have a better time than this! Covered dish is optional but is usually great.

Valentine’s Day Dance – Saturday, Feb 11th, 7-11pm, Music, Food, Prizes & More! $5 admission

CHAPLAIN’S CORNER:   Franklin D. Roosevelt - Men are not prisoners of fate, but only prisoners of their own minds.I recently had the privilege of meeting Col. Glenn Frazier, survivor of Bataan Death March, and POW of the Japanese for over 3 years.It took Col. Frazier over 40 years to forgive the Japanese for what they did to him in WWII. When he forgave them, he found freedom from the nightmares, anger and hatred that dominated his life. He was free. Most of us cannot imagine how it would be to return to civilian life after being a prisoner of war. But we are all prisoners of our own fears, hatreds and thoughts. In this new year of 2012, let yourself forgive another for the hurt they have caused in your life, let each day be filled with gratefulness for the good things you have and enjoy, and fill your mind with thoughts of what you love and why you love it so. Fill your mind with the things you love, and you will find good things and good people attracted to you.
